Born in Australia in the early 1970's Joanne Duckworth grew up on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, New South Wales.  Today she makes her home and studio in Maleny, Queensland, with her husband and their son.

Joanne started painting with acrylics in her teenage years and completed six months of art school before deciding to put down her paint brushes in favour of needle and thread and in the mid 1990's began creating collectable artist bears and continued to do so for the next 10 years.

In 2006 during her tertiary studies in fashion design Joanne’s interest in drawing and painting was reignited during life-drawing and fashion-illustration classes.  After earning a Diploma in Textiles, Clothing and Footwear (2007) Joanne pursued private art tuition before enrolling in her current studies, Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art).
